Welcome to: I Built It Myself!
NOTE: If you are like I am, reading small type is a hinderance. I’ve tried to change the font size on this and our other WordPress sites, but am not smart enough to figure out how to. But you can: Simply hold down your Control key and press “+” on your keyboard. And: This works on every page you access on your computer, not just on WordPress.
- WoodenBoat magazine’s new online service to celebrate those of you who have recently built a (wooden) boat, and to those of you who are doing so now. (We have a sister site for RESTORATIONS — please see below.) We welcome all submissions, from amateurs and professionals alike. Please tell us all about your boat(s) and include photos of construction, launching, and afloat. Once we gain some momentum, we’ll let our readers decide which is the best “Boat of the Month,” and will award cool prizes.

Please confine your comments and submissions to NEW WOODEN BOATS. I don’t want to be a censor — there are opportunities for you to express your views on life in the WoodenBoat Forum. And please don’t use this service to try to sell your boat — there is a fine service at WoodenBoats4Sale for that very purpose. This arena is meant to inspire and celebrate those of us who work and worship in wood. Thank you in advance for your postings — I’m looking forward to reading them and seeing your new boat(s)! My best wishes, Carl
P.S. When you’re uploading photos, please NOTE that the maximum size is < 100 Kb. You can optimize/resize your photos with any number of free services on the Internet (a few of them are Irfanview, GIMP, ReSize2Mail, Phixr, but there are others as well. And, in order to post comments, you must register on the WordPress site (Click here to do so). We will never rent or abuse your information in any way.
P.P.S. And if you’re in the process of RESTORING your boat instead of building anew, we have a sister service: “IRestoredHerMyself.” (www.irestoredhermyself.wordpress.com/about) — this service is almost “live,” and will be in a day or two. We applaud and revere you all. And we know that seldom do we do this work ALL BY OURSELVES. Let’s give others credit where credit is due.
P.P.P.S. For those of you who note my apparent inconsistency above, I offer this, with I believe a bit of historical accuracy: A boat is an “it” until it launches. Then “it” becomes a “she.” This is the equivalent of boatbuilding birthing.
